Cory was able to take quite a bit of Leave after coming back from Deployment, so we decided to use that and visit family in California. We visited his side of the family in Petaluma first. We had lots of fun, and it was great getting to know them better and having them and Jaden get to know each other better as well. I think we all left feeling a little bit closer! :)
First off: Swimming lessons with Oma! Jaden loves the water, so before we even got to Petaluma, he was SO ready to have swimming with Oma. Gosh he loved it. It was really fun watching Cory's mom doing what she does everyday, and it was especially cool seeing her and Jaden interact in this way! We are going to put him into swimming in January and see where that takes him. He really can't get enough of the water.
iPad time with Oma!
So, Cory's best friend Tuomas and his wife Carly live near Petaluma, and we were so happy to have spent time with them. Carly is amazing, and it's not everyday that both spouses get along so great with each other. We planned a date day before we got there with them, while Cory's parents watched Jaden for us. We went shooting in the morning, then had lunch before we headed up to the Oakland Temple, and then went to go see Spiderman that night. What a fun day and what a fun couple!! We miss you guys!!!
I love this picture of Tuomas and Carly!
One of the days we were in Petaluma, we went to a place called Scandia. It was kind of like a Fun Land with miniature golf, arcade games, and that kind of stuff. It was really fun to go there with everyone!
Jaden and Auntie Jessica!
Jaden really caught on quickly to this "sport". He even made a hole in one and took less swings than me and probably Cory!
Marie!!
I actually got Cory to do some Dance Dance Revolution with me! He really got into it and even asked to do a harder level! My little Twinkle Toes :)
Then one of the days we spent the day at Lake Sonoma. It was a beautiful day, perfect for tanning and water skiing and being all together.
Jaden and Auntie Haley! (If he could, Jaden would be attached to Haley's hip :)
After seeing Cory do some skiing, there was no stopping Jaden from getting in the water and trying some riding himself! If there was a stronger word for "love" I'd use it, but he LOVED it! He was having a ball! He kept saying "go faster!". What a water bug!
Jaden and Grand-Dad!
And then of course, it was my turn. I was completely out of my element. Here I am with a family of little water skiers, and I can hardly keep level in the lake without having the extremely buoyant skis turning me over and flipping me upside down...was I terrified of looking ridiculous?...absolutely! But because I love my husband so much, I figured I'd be a good sport and try this thing.
Cory took a picture when I first got in the water....yep, I've got my hands on my hips...
FAIL! I love Cory's "Ooo.." when I bite it.
And then I try again...and it's successful!! I have to admit it was really fun, and yes, I was super wobbly, but I got up and was up for over 2 minutes! Woo Hoo!
I told Cory if I got up on the skis then he'd owe me a Coach bag....this is my moment of victory without being too obvious of our little deal ;)
Having a lunch break...
Having a swim break...it was Marie's idea to be complete girls while holding hands and jumping into the water together---I'll admit that it was actually pretty fun!
Petaluma was such an unforgettable trip. We miss you Joslins!!

Way to go on the skiing! I don't know if I'd even try. I am not a water bug. :)
