San Diego: Part 1

After about a week in Petaluma, we headed down to So-Cal and met up with my incredible parents.  I couldn't have imagined a better trip.

First stop was the Sand Diego Zoo.  I remember having been there about 20 or so years ago (did I really just say 20 years ago??  Wow, I'm old..), but it has changed a LOT!  It is such a nice zoo, and I'm so happy Jaden got to experience it, especially with his love for animals.

Actual size...if I saw this in real life, I think I'd just play dead..

Ice Age Jaguar actual size...I'd play dead with this one too..

...and this one...

We had the opportunity to ride the sky-tram, which was Jaden's first time, and he loved it!  Perfect thing to do at the end of the day when you don't want to walk back down to the exit of the park.

One night we went out to dinner at the Corvette Diner.  This is the neatest place!  I really think I was born in the wrong era, because I am a 50's girl at heart! :)  Everyone who worked there wore costumed uniforms; they had a live DJ playing 50's music.  Everything in there was so much fun! Loved it!

Yum.

On another day, we went to the USS Midway Museum.  It is a retired Navy Aircraft Carrier that my dad served on.  They turned it into a Museum with donated uniforms, aircraft, and lots of other things.  It was really emotional for me to be on there because of all of the memories that came flooding back from when I was a kid with my dad.  The smells were all the same too.  I really didn't want to get off of the ship.  I really loved it and cherished that day.

Dad and Cory in the cockpit of an E2--my dad's plane :).

Cory and I had the opportunity to ride in a flight simulator of a jet.  Now, Cory's a helicopter guy, so this was a little different for him...and yes, we crashed--but not without putting up a fight.  He was in charge of keeping us in the air, while I shot down the enemy that was fliying all around us.  It was so much fun!  We got stuck upside for a while, too, which was really cool!  I couldn't stop squealing and laughing...so fun!

Dad and Cory talking flying.

I had to..

Me and Dad in front of his plane!

Dad and Cory talking planes..

If you look really close, you'll be able to see a little hand with a thumbs up in the front seat.

He loves is Papa.

Walking through the hallways of the carrier brought back so many memories..

Inside the Ready Room were a bunch of seats where pilots would sit and get briefed on flying and missions.  This was my dad's seat along with his name patch..

My dad's flight jacket.

I am just so proud.

Here's his mug hanging up in a display case, too :)

Another night for dinner we went to a place called Old Town.  A really neat Mexican town built up a loooong time ago.  It was an old south-western like town that made me want to talk in an accent and dance in the streets!  Too fun and DELICIOUS food.

That is the coolest thing! I got emotional just seeing the stuff of your dad's...and he's not even my dad! :) That had to be SO amazing to see his stuff there.
